I'm a MA Philippine Studies student from the University of Philippines working in the development sector, specifically on project management and communications.

My interests include conflict studies, international relations, political economy, multimedia journalism, and web design.

I am a MA Philippine Studies student at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines - Diliman. My area of specialization is foreign relations.

My research interests include conflict, migration, development, and policymaking.

As of writing, my running general weighted average (GWA) is 1.12.

2019 — 2023

I wrote an undergraduate thesis circling on the 1990 and 2021 military coup of Myanmar and its sociopolitical effects on democratization.

I also joined Model United Nations and Model ASEAN Meetings where I separately won awards as a delegate and participated as a member of the board of dais and the organizing committee.

I also held leadership positions in TomasinoWeb, the university's premier digital media organization. I have written 40+ stories, launched 4 websites, and won 2 Philippine Student Quill Awards.

Work Experience

2023 — Now
Quezon City, Philippines

I am currently a project associate for the Gas Policy Development Project 3.

In this role, I handle and assist project management, research, and communications. Furthermore, I arrange meetings and handle operations on the technical side of the organization.

2021 — Now

An incoming non-profit non-governmental project advocating for maritime law and security education, and policy coordination.

Currently co-spearheading the education caravan that tackles the law of the sea, among the many topics discussed in the field.

2023 — 2023

I was a local assistant for the Manila Embassy's Press, Information, Culture, and Education Wing.

The Wing handles all matters related to its namesake including engagements and partnerships with organizations and events.

Likewise, I have nurtured connections for the said Embassy and developed a directory for people and businesses related to the function of the Wing.

2022 — 2023

Oversaw the activities, operations, and outputs of the web technologies department of the organization.

I co-founded Draft 143 and Lamona, both websites that emphasize culture, stories, and everything that encompass around the concept of the projects.

Furthermore, I spearheaded the rebuild of the organization's main website.

2020 — 2022

Oversaw the activities and operations of the executive, publication, and web technologies sides of the organization.

Under my term, the organization garnered more than 18,000 followers across its social media platforms while gaining wider recognition and bagging a handful of Philippine Student Quill Awards.

Oversaw the activities and operations of the publication side of the organization.

Co-founded an award-winning special coverage which garnered two major awards, an Excellence Award and Top Award of Covid Comms Nominee, from IABC Philippines.

Served as an assistant to the head instructors and professors who taught the English language to Japanese students from Waseda University, Yokohoma National University, and Hijiyama University.

Projects

The Philippine International Law of the Sea Academy (PHILSEA) is an education caravan that tackles the law of the sea, among the many topics discussed in the field.

Being the first to tackle this kind of project in the Philippines, PHILSEA features experts on the law of the sea that rigorously discusses the topics the field encompasses within 12 module trainings.

I belong in the project's core group as its Executive Secretary and assistant to lecturers for the modules that the caravan is conducting.

2023

Together with the members of the Web Technologies (Y15) department of TomasinoWeb, we rebuilt the main website of the organization.

The project involved building everything from scratch, specifically design and code itself. In its totality, the project amassed to around 250+ frames and 19.2K lines of code.

I managed the product together with my project leads. I also headed research and design for the website rebuild.

2023

Lamona is a food and drink directory for Thomasians, by Thomasians.

I managed the project and developed the concept, brand, and product with the project's developers and designers. Moreover, I spearheaded the project's research and fieldwork pre-launch and post-launch.

Draft 143 is a compilation of stories about love and friendship told through our version of receipts and tickets.

I did the copywriting, terms of submission, project management, documentation, and the conceptualization of the said project.

I designed the recruitment website of the premier digital media organization of the University of Santo Tomas this year hehehe (●'◡'●)

A chapbook written in a span of two years that tells stories of yearning, distance, and the city streets. baskerville was once sold in Komiket back in 2019.

A Study on the Philippines' Sustainability of Climate Change Policies and its Effects on Women Post-Typhoon Rai (Odette)

I'm currently a Research Assistant for a research project fully funded by the Forest Foundation Philippines and the Association of Asian Studies.

The research tackles climate change policies in the Philippines and how it affects women post-Typhoon Rai (Odette).

The UST United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invited me to talk in their passion project titled “Go Go Goals” which aims to use storytelling as a tool to incite action and change.

Here, I talked about a few of my passion projects and how I view storytelling, not just a campus journalist, but also as a writer on my own.

It was at this point of the semester again when college was getting quite too tiring. Coincidentally, my colleague from the Mapua Model United Nations Committee invited me to talk about academic burnout, at a high time when my sleeping schedule was WHACK.

Here, I talked about coping with academic burnout and my coping mechanisms that helps me to write a sentence in graveyard shift hours.

I talked about the experiences of being in a campus publication in this political climate. This was also my first time to openly and boldly talk about campus press freedom.

While I do talk about storytelling quite a lot, I also did something in this talk that I do not do anywhere else—talking about my secret newsletter. Perhaps this is the only time you’ll catch me talking about it.

If writer’s block was a person, it’s probably the one I’d have the longest relationship with so far. In the past couple of years, writer’s block was an acquaintance of mine that I constantly fought with. It brought me headaches and emptiness, to which, I had to find ways how to get away from it to write again.
